Representing Spouses In Divorce Mediation

When it comes to divorce, nearly everyone wants to reach a negotiated settlement. However, that does not happen easily. Family law mediation may provide a way to find common ground with your spouse or at least limit the scope of litigation.

For the experienced representation you need in divorce mediation, contact the attorneys of Lake Toback DiDomenico in Chicago. From complex litigation to negotiated agreements, we work tirelessly to get the best results for our clients.

What Is Mediation?

Mediation uses a neutral party to help you and your spouse work through the issues you need to resolve, such as developing a joint or co-parenting agreement, marital property division and alimony. The outcome of mediation is not binding on either party, and you and your spouse can proceed to litigation if you are unable to reach an agreement.

Mediation can provide a less costly and contentious way to reach an agreement. However, that does not mean that mediation is without risk. If you agree to a settlement that is not in your interests, mediation can have far greater costs than a litigated divorce.

Why Hire A Mediation Attorney?

Mediators have one goal and that is to settle the case. Mediators do not offer legal advice and do not act as an attorney to protect your interests. Even if you reach an agreement in mediation, you may later find several issues that are not covered by the agreement.

Given what is at stake, it is important that you have a lawyer represent you in mediation. Each of our attorneys is highly accomplished and offers the skilled representation that is critical in complex divorce matters.
