Whether the parties involved are famous or wealthy or both, a high-profile divorce puts added pressure on individuals. These divorces often attract the attention of both respected journalists and attention-seeking tabloids.

All of this information, though, provides insights on the challenges of marriage as well as of legal separations.

Interesting details of celebrity divorces

People recently ran a piece on the most expensive celebrity divorces in modern history. After a public instance of infidelity, Shanon and David Beador divorced in 2017 after more than 16 years of marriage. Though the couple worked hard to repair the marriage, the breach of trust likely contributed to the dissolution of the union. The couple agreed to joint legal and physical custody of their three children.

Michael and Juanita Jordan underwent the initial steps to divorce in 2002, reconsidered, and then completed divorce proceedings in 2006. Juanita received a settlement of $168 million, one of the largest payments in history at the time. The marriage lasted 17 years.

Vogue also discussed some of the most famous divorces of the past few years. One of these cases involved Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. The couple met on a movie set in 2011 and later married in the Bahamas in 2015. Just a year later, Heard filed for a restraining order against Depp and initiated divorce proceedings.

The finalized divorce became official in 2017, with Heard receiving a $7 million settlement. She donated the full amount to charities supporting victims of domestic violence. These divorces show that equitable division of assets, child custody issues and social issues often remain at the center of many breakups.
